Hells Bells (classic)..Journey through the dark side of rock as Hells Bells unmasks the message behind rock music. The film examines the relationship of rock music to sex, violence, suicide, drug use, rebellion, the occult, and other activities considered immoral by Biblical Theology. The music in the documentary is music produced prior to the nineties. The film portrays various lyrics and visual imagery in rock music and rock stars as evidence that it is satanic or anti christian.

On Sunday nights throughout the 50s and 60s, Ed Sullivan brought pop culture into Americas living rooms with the most influential show of its kind. If you made it there, you had it made because for the first time, the entire county was at home watching. During the course of the shows run, many of the early rock and roll legends were featured in career-defining performances. These cultural milestones have been compiled for Ed Sullivans Rock n Roll Classics, along with archival footage and narration for insight on the artists, their eras, and their classic appearances. Now seen with half a century of hindsight , its clear Ed Sullivan was right--his was a really big show.

The strategy was simple--showcase, in chronological order, remastered versions of the Kings 1950s output, from his sessions with Sam Phillips at Sun Studios (where they arguably invented the very notion of rock & roll) through his 1958 Army induction. Not everything Elvis recorded in the 50s was great (just as not everything he recorded in Hollywood was rotten), but there are dozens of tracks here that, quite simply, can make a bad day seem all that much better. Which surely still makes him the king of something. Suffice it to say this is one box set that lives up to its title.

Lou Reed has always dabbled in contrasts, so it comes as no surprise that the follow-up to his darkly serious concept album BERLIN was a commercially oriented, good-time rock & roll fest. ROCK N ROLL ANIMAL is a live set that finds Reed stretching out on some of his best-loved Velvet Underground tunes with the help of his crack touring band at the time. Though the songs are somewhat given to stylistic excess, the overall sound is streamlined, accessible, and visceral.

The twin guitar attack of d**k Wagner and Steve Hunter help transform Velvet classics like "White Light White Heat," "Sweet Jane," and "Rock N Roll" into pomp/glam-rock [is pomp the word meant here? not pop?] showpieces, complete with extended arrangements, elaborate instrumental sections, and of course, plenty of long guitar solos. Those who cling to the image of Reed as punk godfather might be mystified by his transformation here into Rock God. But the heart of rock & roll beats in the chest of all of Reeds chameleon-like personalities, and ROCK N ROLL ANIMAL amplifies the sound of that heart to great effect.

Recorded live in 1973, Rock N Roll Animal is Reeds glam-rock sneer back at his Velvet Underground legacy. Five tracks are VU classics (two about the redemptive power of rock, three about the transformative power of drugs) dressed up into slick, flashy twin-guitar attacks, with big riffs and solos. Eight previously unissued tracks, three from 1972s Transformer LP, four from 1973s Berlin LP, and one VU classic flesh out this reissue version of the original concert in its entirety.
